When you hit your 50s, your skin changes: dryness, uneven tone, and sensitivity become more common. Enter niacinamide, a powerhouse form of vitamin B3 that belongs in every mature skincare routine. Niacinamide has been a staple in my nighttime skincare routine since April and I am loving what it's doing for my aging skin.

Why Niacinamide?

  • Strengthens your barrier: Boosts ceramides to lock in moisture.

  • Evens tone: Reduces the look of dark spots and discoloration.

  • Calms skin: Soothes redness and irritation.

  • Refines texture: Helps regulate oil, making pores look smoother.

When to Use It

  • Morning: Adds hydration and antioxidant support.

  • Evening: Buffers stronger actives like retinol.

  • Many women use it both AM + PM if their skin tolerates it.

Can You Mix It?

  • Vitamin C: Safe to combine. For best results, use C in the morning, niacinamide anytime.

  • Retinol: A perfect duo, niacinamide reduces dryness and irritation retinol can cause.

What to Look For

  • Concentration: 2–5% for sensitive skin, 5–10% for stronger results.

  • Best format: Lightweight serum for easy layering.

  • Packaging: Choose opaque, airtight bottles to keep it stable.

Routine Example

  • AM: Cleanser → Vitamin C → Niacinamide → Moisturizer → SPF

  • PM: Cleanser → Niacinamide → Retinol → Moisturizer

Bottom line: Niacinamide is gentle, effective, and multi-tasking, making it one of the best ingredients for women in their 50s to keep skin strong, calm, and radiant.
